Each year at market, we walk into hundreds of showrooms and see thousands of pieces of furniture. We have often thought about what makes the perfect sofa, or an eye-catching chair.

As dreamers often do, we started thinking about designing furniture. Who are the creators behind these pieces? How did they do it? Why did they do it? And, craziest of all… HOW CAN WE GET INVOLVED?!

The last year has been one of turning goals into realities and when a furniture manufacturer asked us to design a room for their showroom, we said yes.

Last week, Amanda and Eryn traveled to North Carolina and planned two rooms for Stanford Furniture’s showroom for the upcoming market.

We were able to select any items from the Stanford line, as well as design several new pieces, which they let us name after family members.

Stanford will be introducing our new sofas this market called the Addie and Manhattan, as well as the Burl chair. We went through vast amounts of fabric and selected new fabric options, which they will also be introducing at April market.

Here is a sneak peek from the trip! The finished pieces will be a surprise, so you’ll have to wait until after market to see everything.

Stanford Furniture is an upholstery manufacturing company committed to customer service, fine local hand-craftsmanship, and luxurious comfort. Stanford CEO and founder, Randy Short and his wife, Jennifer; opened their home and business to us.  In true family-business fashion, Short’s daughter, Brandon Blell, VP of Sales and Marketing; also joined us at the facility and at dinner. They were all so gracious, and we had an amazing experience.

We are looking forward to April, when we can show you all the finished pieces!

With gratitude and excitement,
The AsterHouse Design Team
